Off to the PET scan this morning. It’s an hour away taking two buses in a part of Buenos Aires I’ve never been. I ate only meat and fat yesterday because carb intake would interfere with the substance they will inject into me in a few hours — radioactive glucose, is my understanding. The glucose will settle into dense tissues, like cancerous cells but also sites of previous infection. Anyway, that will take an hour, then the scan another hour at least. By that time I will have been fasting for 17 hours. Ugh.

I had one of these before my cancer prostate operation in ’98. My younger bro had this test this week because he has brain cancer tumor. Take care Rick and good luck on your journey.
Hey Douglas! It was painless, silent (unlike MRIs) and fairly short. That stuff they make you drink tastes better, too. So sorry to hear about your younger bro. So you’ve been cancer-free for quite a while?
I had prostate cancer operation in 1998…..it had not spread beyond the prostate. I do have to be careful not to drink too much water at night or I pee it out in my sleep….ugh.
Be careful!
I’m going to take some pix of the PET scans and post them. They’re cool-looking.
